赴任から約2年と9ヶ月目の日記(前編)。この頃から5Why(5回なぜを繰り返す)を実践していた。

2000/09/11 「考え抜くこと」

What is my goal?

I’d like to achieve myself. I’d like to establish my own company following my own management rule. That means I have to establish my own way of management. What is management? Management is the method to operate the company. There are several categories. Manager is not a director. Director is direct the way for company to go, define company’s strategy, mission and demonstrate it to all employees. Manager is the chief for particular department which has the particular mission. Manager’s mission is to lead, support and instruct the team. That means Manager is required to be professional for the area he is taking care of and make an appropriate instruction to his staff.

Is it good thing to define the mission of Manager so clearly? Will it make the situation which nobody takes a responsibility? It isn’t a point. What I’d like to do is to achieve my idea in company. That mean what I need to think is what kind of organization I’d like to establish. I’d like to be a manager who can do everything and who know everything about his company.

This logic will be able to be applied in small company. What shall I do when the company grows? What shall I do to keep the flat and quick organization? Small organization with specialist.

How can I find out such specialist?Human connection and keeping good personality. To be specialist to understand the specialist. How can I find out the human connection? Get into circumstance where such person is gathering. MBA class, business course. Meet with people.

How can I keep the good personality? Control yourself. Listen their words. Think at their standing point. Say what you think honestly.

『その当時を振り返り』

自分のマネジメントスタイルを実践するために自分の会社を作りたいという思い、マネジメントとは、方向付け・ミッション明確化であり、自分を高め続けることの大切さ、そもそもマネジメントする人自身がスペシャリストである必要性、人財を大切に思う気持ちの大切さ、人の思いを知る事の大切さ、など組織開発の骨子はこの時点からおぼろげながらできていたようだ。

この10年以上後に社員1000人の会社の組織開発をリードするようになる下地はこの頃に出来ていたようだ。

しかし、人生とは不思議なものだ。その当時は自分が何を考えているのか全く分からずにいたが、その当時頭の中で整理したことが後々に役立つ。

やはり、何事もしっかり考え抜くことが大切だし、今の悩み、苦しみは将来の糧になるものなのだ。
